Ongoing AI Strategy Advisory

An independent AI adviser who knows your organisation, helps you make difficult decisions and stays close as things change.

Bring me the issue you need to get on top of. A problem in the rollout, a pilot or scaling plan, a vendor proposal or an important communication. We'll work through what it means for your organisation, what I'd recommend and what to do next.

01The situation

AI slop can leave your team checking and redoing work that was supposed to save time. Shadow AI can leave you unsure which tools or automations people are using. Alongside those problems, you may need to design a pilot, scale a programme or get a critical communication right.

The work changes from month to month. We agree what needs attention, work through your options and build on what you've already learned, with advice from someone who knows the context.

02Who it's for

  • A CEO or executive responsible for AI decisions who wants an independent adviser to work through them with
  • A de facto AI lead — the person AI responsibility has landed with — who has the authority and support to act on the advice
  • A leader who needs to address problems in the rollout, design a pilot, work out how to scale or prepare an important communication
  • Someone who wants continued advice after a Reality Check, Vision or Sprint, or an ongoing relationship from the outset

03What it isn't

  • A fractional AI chief or someone to run your AI programme
  • Software implementation, technical architecture, cyber or legal advice
  • A full organisation-wide diagnostic
  • Guaranteed same-day or round-the-clock support
  • Workshops, extensive interviews or substantial writing assignments within the standard scope

You retain decision authority and your team puts the advice into practice. If the work needs a wider diagnostic, specialist input or a separate engagement, I'll say so and agree the scope with you.

04What you walk away with

We start by understanding your priorities and working through one live issue. Each month builds on that context, with advice you can use in your next decision, meeting or conversation with your team.

01

A clear starting point. In the first month, we work through one live priority together while I prepare the Opening Strategic Read. You receive a clear account of what needs attention, the decisions coming up and what I'd recommend.

02

An adviser to work through the issue with. A monthly 90-minute strategy session, plus priority email and message access for second opinions, private debriefs and help with a pilot, scaling approach or communication that needs careful thought.

03

A strategy brief that stays current. I update your Living Strategy Brief each month with priorities, approaching decisions and the AI developments that matter to your organisation.

04

Recommendations you can act on and explain. When the issue warrants it, a short Advisory Note sets out my advice, the reasoning, the risks and what to do next. You can use it with your team, board or other advisers.

The value of staying close

Each decision builds on what we've already learned. I keep track of what we've agreed, why, and what would make us reconsider. I also bring relevant developments to you, so you don't have to follow every new model, vendor claim or headline yourself.

05How it works

  1. Week 1

    Understand your priorities

A 90-minute conversation about your responsibilities, the pressures on you and the decisions coming up.

  2. Weeks 1–3

    Get the context

I review the relevant materials and speak with up to two people you nominate, so the advice reflects what's happening in your organisation.

  3. By day 30

    Agree what needs attention

You receive the Opening Strategic Read and first Living Strategy Brief, along with advice on one live priority.

    First resultOpening Strategic Read

  4. Every month

    Work on what needs attention

A 90-minute strategy session on the current priority: a problem in the rollout, pilot design, scaling, a decision or an important communication. I update the Brief and flag relevant developments between sessions.

  5. Between sessions

    Bring me the issue

Priority email and message access for questions, second opinions and private debriefs. I'll acknowledge your message by the next business day; the time needed for substantive advice depends on the issue.

At 90 days

Review the value and scope. We look at where the advice has helped, what needs to change and whether the agreed level of support still fits. The initial term is six months.

My promise

You have an independent adviser who knows your organisation and will give you a clear recommendation, challenge an assumption or help you prepare for a difficult conversation. As priorities change, we build on what you've learned and keep you clear on what to do next and why.

06Inside the Living Strategy Brief

One concise document that I keep up to date as we work together:

  1. Where you stand right now
  2. Your priorities this quarter
  3. Relevant AI developments and what they mean for you
  4. Decisions coming up in the next 30–90 days
  5. My recommendations and the actions to take next
  6. What we've decided, why, and when to reconsider

Written for busy executives, without the fluff. The current priorities and recommendations come first; the reasoning and earlier decisions are there when you need them.

07Why work with Phil

I help you connect what AI can do with what your organisation is trying to achieve and what your people need to make it work. That means looking at the business case, the work itself and the leadership decisions around it.

I started as a drafter and civil designer, trained as an engineer and moved into digital project delivery, most recently in a senior global role at an engineering consultancy. That work included designing and running a staged AI adoption programme.

I run an AI-native advisory practice, using AI and my own agents every day across strategy, research, writing, design and delivery. I can test the tools, question a vendor's claims and talk through the practical implications with you. I have no platform or implementation contract to sell you.

From people I've worked with on similar challenges

“Phil gives his time generously, shows up with positivity, and genuinely has a way of lifting people up that stays with you long after the interaction.”

Marsha Brown, CTDPFormer colleague and AI session collaborator

“Most importantly, Phil is someone I trust. When faced with difficult decisions, complex transformation challenges, or uncertain futures, he is the kind of person you want on your team.”

Andy HaresFormer colleague at Hatch

08How I assess the problem

A vendor question might turn out to be about how work is organised, what people are allowed to change or whether the ambition is clear enough. I use these frameworks where they help explain the issue and what to do about it.

Let's work through what's in front of you.

Tell me what you're responsible for and where you'd value an independent view. We'll work out whether ongoing advice is the right fit.
